Sherri Linda Ijames Boston, 65, passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 22, 2025, after a gradual decline in health. She was born in Mocksville, N.C., on April 18,1960, the daughter of John Lester Ijames and the late Liz Kate Reinhardt Ijames.
Sherri loved gardening with her husband, spending time with her family and participating in church activities. Sherri was very involved in her church and community. She worked for years in the school system as a bus driver as well as working with children and adults with special needs. Sherri also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She held office as Worthy Matron of Solid Rock Chapter 575. She was a faithful member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Taylorsville, N.C. She also served as first vice president of Senior Mission Department, former president of the Liberty Grove Singers and a longtime member of the kitchen committee.
Sherri was preceded in death by her mother, Liz Kate (Reinhardt) Ijames; father-in-law, James Boston and mother-in-law, Vina Boston; and sisters-in-law, Bernice (Tommy) Linney and Bonnie Sue Boston.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories include her devoted and loving husband, Ernest Boston of Taylorsville; her son, Pastor Elliot Boston (Joyce) of Claremont; her daughter, Courtney Baxter (Joseph) of Statesville; her grandchildren, Elijah Boston of Hickory, Grace Boston of Chapel Hill, and Jade Boston of Claremont; special daughter, Joleen Linney of Statesville; special son, Kurt Linney of Winston-Salem; her father, John Lester Ijames (Peggy) of Walnut Cove; her sisters, Teresa Sharpe (Johnny and four children) of Kansas City, Kan., Selena Mayberry (Randall and one child) of Guinea, West Africa; her brother, James Allen Ijames (four children) of Guinea, West Africa; her sisters-in-law, Georgia Flowers (Willie and four children) of Taylorsville, Kelly Burch (Roscoe and three children) of Taylorsville; her brothers-in-law, Billy Boston (Mary and children) of Taylorsville, Jonathan Boston (Loretta and three children) of Taylorsville, and Claude Boston (Lorraine and two children) of Morganton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Home-Going Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Sterling Howard officiating and Pastor Elliot Boston-Eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
