Shirley Templeton Brown Hager, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville. Born August 28, 1935, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Viola Miller Brown.
Mrs. Hager was a 1953 graduate of Mooresville Senior High School. She attended Fieldstone Presbyterian Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard and at the lake. Mrs. Hager enjoyed sweets of any kind and loved her “boys.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Lavan Hager Sr.; son, Cletus L. Hager Jr.; nephew, David “Pudgy” Davis; sister, Betty Wellman; and great grandson, Logan Garris.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Parker (Wayne); sister, Phyllis Twitty (Davidson); grandchildren, Jennifer Beam (Eddie), Van Hager III of Illinois, Chris Morris of Oklahoma and Shirl Hager of Florida; great grandchildren, Kimmons and Slade Cartee of Mooresville, Gabriel Hager, Damon and Katie Garris of Florida, and Mitchell and Mackenzie Morris of Oklahoma; bonus great grandchildren, Seth and Morgan Beam; and great-great granddaughter, Laramie Abott.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Stacey Freeman and Sarah Hager, and the staff of the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, with Rev. Dr. Carrie Finch Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service. At other times, they will gather at the home of Susan and Wayne Parker. Those serving as pallbearers will be Corey Davis, Chris Morris, Henry Hall, David Rodes, Daniel Rodes and Shane Johnson.
