It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Summer Annese Atlas, who departed this life on September 2, 2025, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was 19 years old.
Born on October 8, 2005, in Moreno Valley, Calif., Summer was the beloved daughter of Bruce Edwin Atlas and Dana Inez Durant Atlas. A bright and ambitious young woman, she graduated from South Iredell High School in 2023 and was pursuing her dreams as a sophomore at Winston-Salem State University, majoring in Mass Communication and Marketing.
Summer also worked in customer service at Walmart, where her vibrant personality and kind heart left a lasting impression on customers and co-workers alike.
She was preceded in death by Private First Class Marcus Tynes Jr. III; her aunts, Barbara Atlas, Michelle Seyers, and Yvonne Atlas; her uncles, Jeffery Baker, Darryl Atlas, Paul Atlas, Willford Atlas, and Gerald Atlas; her maternal grandfather, Leopole Durant; her maternal, aunt Joann Durant; and her paternal grandparents, William Atlas Sr. and Doris Atlas.
Summer leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Bruce and Dana Atlas; her siblings, Fallon Atlas May (Jeffery) of Gulf Point, N.C., Brittany Atlas of Memphis, Tenn., Johannes (Ashley) Atlas of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Savannah Atlas of Troutman, N.C.
She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Delores Durant of Troutman, N.C.; her nieces and nephews, Jaiden McClain of Clarksville, Tenn., Amani Brumfield of Memphis, Tenn., and Leah Nunnery of Memphis, Tenn.; and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, including Jolene Tierry of Moreno Valley, Calif., Monet Mandujano Durant of Perris, Calif., Jacquay Durant of Moreno Valley, Calif., Dwayne (Cynthia) Rose of Kannapolis, N.C., Anthony and Alisa Baber of Lakewood, Calif., Jodie and Eugene Baber, Kimberly Miller, Gwenoldyn Shatter Atlas, Christy Atlas, Bettye King, and Linda Atlas.
Summer will be laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park & Mortuary in Riverside, Calif.
Her light, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.
