Sylvia Jean Corrales Estrada, 81, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on December 25, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Angel Corrales and Rosalia Blanco Corrales.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Filamir Estrada; a brother, Ralph Quintana; and a sister, Ashley Quintana.

Sylvia met her husband in New York, and their life journey together took them to Ecuador, back to Tampa, Fla., again to Ecuador, and eventually back to the United States. Sylvia found joy in dancing and listening to Spanish music.

Beyond being a devoted mother to her beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sylvia took great pride in her work at the Health Department, where she was actively involved in serving the Spanish-speaking community. She also had a love for indoor plants and flowers, especially roses.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Estrada; her daughters, Michelle Estrada and Elisa Intriago; six grandchildren, Steven, Sylvia, Fabian, Carlos, Shelisa, and Rosangel; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will not be held. The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 2 until 4 p.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Columbarium at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, North Carolina 28658.
