Mr. Thad Carson Sr., 95, was born in Iredell County on May 13, 1930, and was the son of the late Charlie Carson and Betty Patterson Carson. He passed away on August 14, 2025.

Thad was married to Lottie Mae Troy Rose Carson, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Robert Carson, Creighton Carson, Bessie Wilson, Shirley Smith, Wilbert Carson, Warren Carson, Jessie Hayes and Clay Carson; and a granddaughter, Natasha Carson.

He attended the Iredell County Schools and worked at Southern Screw as a machine operator and retired from RJ Reynolds. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved gardening, playing his guitar, and working on lawn mowers, and he loved watching wrestling.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two sons, Thad (Wanda) Carson Jr. of Harmony and Tyrone (Penny) Carson of Conover; one beloved sister, Neely Levy; his beloved grandchildren, Torrey, Ryan, Jazmine, Tyreka (DC), Cha-Tara, Chante (Andrew), Tyrone “Jay” (Rachel) Carson Jr., Chelsea Carson, and Patience Carson (Ryder); his beloved great grandchildren, Elijhna, Raymon, Tyreek, Aniiah, A’Jaya, Amar’e, Derek Jr., A’Javion, Jeremih, Emyrie, Quentin, Grayson, Gracie, Kianna and Jeremiah; great-great grandchildren, A’Zyon and Ah’Zaylee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Mr. Carson will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, where members of the family will receive friends at the chapel from 12 until 1 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
