Timothy Wood Reid, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Tim was born on July 11, 1946, in Iredell County to the late Forest Humphrey Reid and Mattie Thomas Reid. He was a devoted member of Hebron Baptist Church and retired from James River Equipment, where he worked as a mechanic. Tim was a member of the Ebenezer Volunteer Fire Department for 39 years, serving as a firemen, board member, and Lieutenant. He took great joy in woodworking and spending time gardening where he could grow anything he set his mind to. He loved his dogs Molly and Sasha.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Reid, and his brother-in-law, Harold Wright.

Cherishing his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Shaver Reid; his sons, Scott Reid (Pamela) and Perry Reid (Kellie); his daughter, Amy Reid; and his grandchildren, Lane Reid (Malia), Jordan Perry (Sean), Dakota Reid, Abbygale Reid, and James Perry Reid Jr. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Autumn Reid; his sister, Kay Reid Wright; his sister-in-law, Antha Reid; and his step-grandchildren, Ali Ireland, Kaley Ireland, and Emily Ireland; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 and Hebron Baptist Church, 175 Hebron Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
