William “Bill” Horace Stewart, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Bill was born January 2, 1946, in Mobile, Ala., to the late Horace Daniel Stewart and Margaret Mae Stubbs Stewart. He was an active member of Western Avenue Baptist Church for 43 years, where he served in many roles. Some of those roles included teaching Sunday School, co-teaching with Dwaine Menscer for 43 years, as well as serving on the Board of Deacons. He was also a member of The Gideons International. He was an associate of the Marine Corp League Detachment #1097. He was Vice President of Merchants Metals, where he retired in 1999. He was the owner of MDM Consulting, and he was a mentoring owner of Statesville Fence and Iredell Glass. There are not enough words to value his contribution to these companies’ success.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his half-sister, Peggy Stewart Simmons.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda Adcock Stewart; his daughters, Vicki Stewart Larsen (Jim) and Valorie Stewart Byrd (Ken); and grandchildren, Katie Byrd, Michael Byrd and Lorali Larsen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. A private burial will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements for Mr. Stewart are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
