William Joe Goodman, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Novant Hospital in Huntersville, N.C.
He was born on October, 3, 1936, in Mooresville to the late Joe Irvin Goodman and Virginia Swing Goodman. William served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a brick mason in his early years and then later went on to work at Commscope, from where he retired.
He enjoyed fishing at the beach, watching his favorite cowboy TV shows, and spending quality time with his family. He loved his family very much, especially his grandkids. One of his favorite things was getting his grandson, Jack, from the bus stop. He enjoyed chatting all about our farm with his grandson, Ethan, and helping him learn all about the farm, caring for animals, and growing plants. He also enjoyed going to Shop n Save every day to meet up with his buddy Steve Winecoff and the rest of his friends.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Laura Sue Goodman; their son, William Joe Goodman Jr.; and his brother, Michael Goodman.
William is survived by his much-loved son Brian Craig Goodman, his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Goodman, and beloved grandchildren, Ethan Goodman and Jack Goodman.
Visitation with the family will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on Sunday, July 27, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. services to immediately follow in the funeral home chapel.
