Willie James Alexander Jr. passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Statesville, N.C., at the age of 54.
Willie was born on July 16, 1970, to Willie James Alexander Sr. and Mary Turner Ramsey in Rowan County, N.C. He attended schools in Rowan County and Vallejo, Calif., where he eventually graduated. He later joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Willie loved his sports whether it was football or basketball with his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emmanuel Alexander and Willie Mae Alexander; and maternal grandparents, Garland Turner and Mary Alice Turner. His young son, Steven Marland Alexander, preceded him also.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Alexander of the home. He also leaves to cherish his memories by his son, Willie James Alexander III; daughter, Champaine Somone Alexander (Kolby); son, Justus Alexander; four bonus sons, Darian (Kara) Jones, Durad Jones, Michael Ralph Jones, and Marvin (Antoinette) King Jr.; parents, father, Willie James (Bertidean) Alexander Sr.; mother, Mary Turner (James) Ramsey; and brothers, Steven Bryan (Jackie) Alexander and Renaldo Nehemiah (Latoya) Alexander. He loved especially his bonus mom, Zoann Alexander, who is most noted for her gumbo. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews will also cherish his memories.
As we remember Willie, we celebrate a life filled with warmth, energy, and a heart that touched everyone he met. Though he has departed this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the countless stories of joy and friendship he leaves behind. He was a member of Greater New Mount Olive Church, where he was baptized just last year and began his spiritual journey. Not perfect but striving every day.
