Mrs. Aleen Mattox Alexander, 89, daughter of the late Authur and Summer Mae Williams Mattox, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on August 31, 1936. She departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was a graduate of the Iredell County Schools and also received a degree in nursing. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nurse in the medical field. She was a member of the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C. She was married to Theodore Roosevelt Alexander, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Allan Bruce Alexander; a daughter, Susan Aleen Alexander Jones; and a brother, Shelton E. Mattox.

Aleen leaves to cherish the memory of her life three sons, Theodore R. Alexander Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Wayne Rayne Alexander of Statesville and David Eugene Alexander of Statesville; two daughters, Diane D. (William) Brinkley and Mary Ann Louise Alexander, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Earl Lewis Tabron Sr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and Roy Mattox of Statesville; a sister, Virginia Cooper of Philadelphia, Pa.; 37 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life services for Aleen will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church in Statesville. Dr. Dietrich Danner will officiate and Reverend Leslie Morrison will eulogize. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

Members of the family receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church, but will assemble at the residence, 631 Central Drive, Statesville, at other times.
