Boyce Andrew “B.A.” Barnette, 87, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, N.C. He was born on November 1, 1938, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Cameron and Lucille Honeycutt Barnette.

B.A. attended Davidson High School and went on to become the owner and operator of Qualified Electric Motors, where he earned respect and admiration for his dedication and expertise in electric motor repair. He was widely known for his commitment to quality work and service in his field.

He was known for his friendly demeanor, infectious humor, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. A beloved member of Berea Baptist Church in Mooresville, B.A. served faithfully as a deacon and participated on the cemetery committee, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. He was also a long-time member of the South Iredell Lion’s Club.

In addition to his service to the church, he cherished his time spent traveling, boating, and engaging in watersports but mostly spending time with his family. His laughter and playful spirit will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Hallman Barnette; sons, Michael Andrew Barnette and Jeffrey Todd Barnette; brothers, Luther “Fat” Barnette, Lewis “Tee” Barnette, and Thomas Barnette; and sisters, Evelyn Ervin, Joyce Mayhew, Geraldine Beaver.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Murphy Barnette; bonus daughters, Cindy Beatty (Todd), Carolwayne Pennington, and Cathie Yates (Kevin); daughter-in-law, Debbie Barnette; grandsons, Michael Barnette (Gina) and Jonathan Barnette; great grandchildren, Paisley, Makenna, Riley and Sawyer; bonus grandchildren, Cathryn Miller, Aspyn Dorsett, Bryce Dorsett and Haley Yates; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Collette and Rev. Larry Leatherwood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
