Barney Lawrence Brookshire, 69, passed away on December 24, 2025, at his home in Ponce Inlet, Fla. Barney was born in Taylorsville, N.C., on December 13th, 1956, to Samuel and Lillian (Zachary) Brookshire.

Barney was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James (Jim) Brookshire, and is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Brookshire of Phoenix, Ariz., and Alyson Brookshire Goldby (married to Alexander Goldby) of Happy Valley, Hong Kong, and by his son, Jonathan Brookshire of Hickory, N.C. He was also preceded by his grandson, Henry Goldby.

A graduate of Alexander Central High School and a passionate golfer, Barney furthered his studies at Brevard College. He was the owner and operator of Ride with Pride Car Wash and had a deep appreciation for fast cars and thrilling air shows. His adventurous spirit led him to travel and scuba dive alongside family and friends.

In loving memory, we find solace in the memories shared. We honor Barney’s life, which was rich with love, laughter, and countless unforgettable experiences.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James Brookshire Memorial Scholarship at Brevard College.
