Bernice Lee Eidson, born on July 20, 1932, in Wilkes County, N.C., passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Statesville, N.C., at the age of 93.

Bernice was known for her kind soul and her genuine care for everyone she encountered. After speaking with her for just five minutes, it felt as though you had known her for a lifetime. She always made sure to say “I love you” before parting ways and had an incredible memory for birthdays.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Newton Eidson; her father, Cletus Hamby; her mother, Sadie Spears Hamby; her brothers, James Osborne Hamby and Hayden Burke Hamby; and her sister, Mary Hamby Haynes.

She leaves behind her sons, John Steven Eidson (Pam) and Jerry Wayne Eidson (Jingtaowu). She was a beloved grandmother to Michael Eidson and a cherished great-grandmother to Jon Eidson and Chyenne Labs. Bernice is also survived by her special niece, Linda Cornett; special nephews, Tim Hamby and Terry Hamby; and special friends, Jerry Davis and Vickie Hass.

A funeral service will be held at in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, located at 705 Davie Avenue in Statesville, on February 11, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the services.

Pallbearers will include John Steven Eidson, Jerry Wayne Eidson, Jerry Davis, Terry Hamby, Andrew Wahab, and Greg Dellinger. Tim Hamby will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
