Billie Nelson Compton, 94, passed away on April 4, 2026, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

She was born on September 9, 1931, in Mecklenburg County to the late Baxter and Lacy Honeycutt Nelson. Billie was employed with Draymore Manufacturing and later retired from Aeroquip Corporation. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flower beds, completing word puzzles, and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Compton; her brothers, Mack, Jerry, Don, and Jack; and her sisters, Betty and June Carol.

She is survived by her son, Robert Compton (Debbie), and her daughter, Jackie Maclay (Keith). She was a cherished grandmother to Chris Bailey (Brandi), Jason Walden (Michelle), and Vickie Wright. Her great-grandchildren include Ava Bailey, Sara Joe Bailey, Shae Drake (Ben), Taylor Brittney, Jason Robert, Scarlett Walden, Eileen Laney, and Zoie Raymer. Her great-great-grandchildren include Mila Drake, Cohen Drake, and Kaelon Lambert. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Oates, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Billie will be remembered for her warm smile, sharp wit, and joyful spirit.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House for their compassionate care.

In accordance with Billie’s wishes, no services will be held.
