Carolyn Vaughn Cornelius Johnson passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on June 13, 1939, in North Carolina, Carolyn was known for her hard-working nature and her love for home life.

A graduate of Cool Springs High School, Carolyn spent her career working in textiles. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life, as she took great care of her parents and provided for her family with unwavering commitment.

Carolyn was married to the late Gurnie Lee Johnson, and together they raised two children, Tim Johnson of Fairview, N.C., and Joy Doub (Kent) of Pfafftown, N.C. She is also survived by her grandson, Tim Johnson II. Carolyn was predeceased by her brothers, Gene Cornelius, Elbert Cornelius, and Kenneth Cornelius, and her sister, Sadie Freeze.

In her personal time, Carolyn found joy in gardening, canning, and cooking, hobbies that reflected her nurturing spirit and love for her family.

A graveside service will be held on January 14, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 155 New Salem Road, Statesville, N.C.
