Chanda Kutteh Sturghill, 64, passed away suddenly on January 8, 2026, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, N.Y., and was the daughter of Louvenia Sturghill Summers and Edward Johnson.

Chanda was a native of Statesville, N.C., where she was a graduate of Statesville High School in 1980. We are deeply sadden by the passing of Chanda and extend our deepest condolences to the family. She was the sister of Jeff Summers, Christopher Summers and Tysha Summers.

The funeral arrangements will be in New Jersey, but are incomplete at this time. Please keep the Sturghill/Summers family in your prayers during this difficult time.
