Crystal (Chris) Dawn Hernandez of Mooresville passed away surrounded by love and her family on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a brief yet brave battle with cancer. She was born on May 17, 1974, to the late Judy Ann Riffle in Elkins, W.Va. When she was young, her family relocated to North Carolina, where she established her roots.

She was a loving wife to Felix for nearly 30 years. She was a dedicated homemaker who was passionate about cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed working on her diamond paintings, making Christmas ornaments and other crafts, and spending time with her loved ones.

Crystal was proceeded in death by her son Bernard, mother Judy Ann, grandmother Geneva, and grandfather Bernard.

She is survived by her husband Felix; daughters Victoria Holloway (Ryan) of Mooresville, Cresta of Fayetteville, and Marissa Thurlow of Charleston, S.C.; sons Jorge and Andrew, both of the home; brother Robert Smith of Statesville, grandchildren Carissa and Nolan, and nephews Allen and Zander.

A private celebration of life for friends and family will be held by her children at a later date.
