Daniel Christopher Preiss, 28, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on January 20, 2026. Born on October 12, 1997, he was the beloved son of Daniel E. Preiss and Rita D. Preiss.

Daniel was a dedicated individual who loved his family with all of his heart, and he had deep beliefs in his Catholic faith. He was extremely technically and mechanically gifted, a hard worker, and had a passion for adventure. His outgoing personality, huge heart and smile were contagious.

Danny had an amazing sense of humor and a bold spirit; he loved all things fast, drifting BMW competitions, riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. The 4th of July was his favorite holiday; he enjoyed nothing more than shooting off fireworks and a good celebration. He also enjoyed simpler things like music, fishing, crabbing and all animals, especially his dog Zorro. He was an amazing cook, his specialty being sauce and chicken parm.

Danny was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him; his generosity was often expressed through his volunteer work. Nothing made him happier than helping someone in need, whether it be someone stranded in a car on the side of the road, or going to The Christian Mission to help disadvantaged people fix their cars. Danny never wanted anything in return; he was just happy to help. When downtown, he enjoyed going to Richard’s Coffee Shop to talk to all the older veterans and he always put a smile on their faces. He and his brothers would also go to their church St. Therese and assemble quilts for the children’s hospital.

Danny was outgoing and had a fun nature, but he always had a serious side when asked for advice or help. Danny cherished the joys of life and the connections he made along the way.

You will forever remain in our hearts. We will love you endlessly.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Daniel and Rita; his brothers, Vinny and Nicholas Preiss; his maternal grandmother, Rita DiDomenico; his paternal grandfather, Theodore Preiss; as well as aunts and uncles, Ted Preiss, Michael Preiss (Michelle), Rosemary McKinnon (Doug) and Ralph DiDomenico (Mary); cousins, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph DiDomenico, and paternal grandmother, Veronica Preiss.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, with a Prayer Service being held at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, where loved ones will gather to celebrate Daniel’s life. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
