David Lee Campbell, born on December 26, 1953, in Salisbury, N.C., passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 72. David was a resident of Harmony, N.C. He was a hard worker, a wonderful man, generous, kind, and big-hearted, and liked by all who knew him.

David was married for 39 years to his beloved wife, Nancy Edwards Campbell. He was a devoted family man, survived by his wife Nancy of the home; his daughters, Michelle Shue and husband Todd, and Nichole Lentz and husband Jason; and his step-daughter, Lisa Lail and husband Scott, and his step-son, Scott Millsaps and his wife Mindy. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth “Lib” Cartner Campbell and Ralph Glenn Campbell, and his brothers, Darnell Campbell and Perry Campbell.

David was a proud grandfather to Trevor Shue, Olivia Shue, Vera Shue, Tanner Lentz, Addison Lentz, Peyton Lentz, Josh Lail (of the home), Sidney Anthony, and Maysie Webb. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Annalisa Anthony, Adalin Anthony, Jace “JW” Lail, Jaycie Webb, and Jaxon Webb. He was predeceased by his great-grandson Colt Lail.

David worked for International Paper and for N.G.K., where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. His favorite pastime was woodworking, a hobby he cherished deeply.

A receiving of friends will be held at Salem Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, located at 169 Salem Church Road, Mocksville, N.C., on January 29, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Salem Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Josh Lail, Jeff Anderson, Jeremiah Campbell, Ethan Edwards, Luke Edwards, Tanner Lentz, Trevor Shue, and Jerry Shoemaker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 169 Salem Church Road, Mocksville, NC 27028.

David’s legacy is captured in his own words: “If you can get out of bed, you can go to work.” He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
