David Ronaldo Chavez-Chicas, 14, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on December 29,2025. David was a quiet, friendly soul, known by all as a “super sweet,” quirky, and loving young man.

A devoted son and the best younger brother, David shared a special bond with his brother, Josue Chicas. The two were inseparable, often found together playing the PS5, sharing adventures and laughs in the games they loved. David’s funny sense of humor and gentle nature brought a unique light to his home. Whether he was seeking out the spiciest snacks or being the world’s best uncle to his nieces and nephews, he led with his heart.

David is survived by his parents, Doris Chicas-Chavez and Rafael Chavez; his siblings, Erik Chicas, Jennifer Chicas and husband Fernando Arteaga, Cristian Chicas and wife Emily Chicas, Rafael Chicas, Diana Chavez-Chicas, and Elizabeth Chicas-Chavez. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Ana Chicas and Maria Delia Vazquez; his aunts and uncles, Milton Chicas and wife Maritza Chicas, and Maria Isabel Vazquez; his beloved nieces and nephews, Michael, Benjamin, Natalie, Lizette, Aria, and Amelia, who will always remember their fun-loving uncle; and his cousins, Peety, Christopher, and Gabriela.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rafael Antonio Chavez Solórzano.
