Donald L. Truedson, “Don” to most of us, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, February 15, 2026. Originally from Rock Falls, Ill., he raised his family in Scotch Plains, N.J., and eventually became a full-time grandpa in Mooresville, N.C.

Born on July 24, 1938, to Leo and Laura Truedson, he was the oldest of four siblings and brother to three sisters Susan, Sandy and Cheryl. Don proudly served his country, joining the Army after high school. It was through his service he met the love of his life Judy at a USO dance in New Jersey. They were married in 1961, raised two children, Timothy and Todd, and shared 65 wonderful years together.

He will be remembered as a devoted and hard-working family man who looked forward to building whatever his family needed, supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and band competitions, serving his community on the Scotch Plains TV34 crew and as an active member of the First Congregational Church of Westfield.

Don is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Truedson, and oldest son, Tim Truedson of Mooresville, N.C.; his younger son, Todd Truedson and wife Lori of Troutman, NC; his grandchildren Nick Truedson of Kingston, Ga., and Ben Truedson of Catawba, N.C.; his sister, Sandy Miller and her husband Charles of Pinellas Park, Fla.; his sister-in-law Shirley Fielder of Scotch Plains, N.J.; his brother-in-law Ernie Smith of Silvas, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a small service to remember Don on Friday morning, February 20, at 10 a.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church located at 9425 West NC 152 Highway in Mooresville, N.C.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Norman Home Health, Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital and Gordon Hospice House of Statesville for the compassionate care they provided Don and the support they offered to his family.
