Robert Owen Sneed, 91, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at Autumn Care of Cornelius.

Robert was born January 28, 1935, in Charlotte, N.C., the son of Dan and Elizabeth (Betty) Sneed. He was often described as a special man, loved by everyone who knew him. He took great joy in telling stories about his life to all his fellow Seniors at Peninsula Baptist Church. His smile invited anyone he met to get to know him.

At a Christian summer camp, Robert felt Jesus’ call on his life and he received Christ as his Lord and Savior. Later, he graduated from Myers Park High School with the first graduating class of about 35 and went on to graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill with an BA in Secondary Education. As a young adult, he developed asthma and decided to take voice lessons to help with his breathing. As a result, he developed a beautiful, clear tenor voice and sang with the Charlotte Oratorio Singers. He developed a passion for this style of music as a way to worship his Lord and was overjoyed when asked to sing the tenor solos to Handel’s Messiah with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Later, after moving to Kansas City, Mo., he joined the choir at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and traveled with them to England on one occasion.

Robert always felt the Lord leading him to use his hands in serving others and while living in Kansas City took classes to become a Chiropractor. He developed great friendships with his patients and some have continued to communicate with him even now. After 30 years in that profession, he decided to move to Washington State and spent another five years helping others using a new form of therapeutic massage.

After 35 years Robert decided it was time to return to North Carolina. He moved to Asheville, where he started working at the Biltmore House. He spent 14 wonderful years working there and building great friendships with his co-workers. In February of 2022 Robert moved to Mooresville, N.C., to live with his sister and brother-in-law. He became a much loved member of Peninsula Baptist Church and again found many new and loving friends.

Robert is survived by his sister, Eileen Palmer, and her husband Jerry; his niece, Nickie Bloom, and her husband, Adam; Robert Palmer and his wife Stephanie; and his great nieces and nephews, Elise, Spencer, Alex, Abigail and Robert Bloom and Cate and Evie Palmer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Youth Center of Peninsula Baptist Church followed by a memorial service to celebrate Robert from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Peninsula Baptist Building Fund or Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief (baptistsonmission.org).
