Hal Armstead Stutts, 90, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville.

He was born on August 27, 1935, in Mooresville to the late Otha Armstead Stutts and Mamie Clark Stutts. Mr. Stutts was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Army. He was owner and operator of Port City Pump Service in Mooresville for 40-plus years. He was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church in Mooresville.

In addition to his parents, Hal was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Baldwin Stutts; sisters, Faye, Frances, and Thelma; and brothers, Keith, Herman, Gray, Frank, Billy, Wayne, and Mason.

He is survived by his children, Robin Michelle Stutts, and Charles “Chuck” A. Strickland; sisters, Wanda Daron, May Dauer, and Doris Rutherford; brother, Larry Stutts; grandsons, Anthony Cole Strickland, and Charles Cody Strickland; great grandson, Gabriel Jaxon “Jax” Strickland; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at Prospect Presbyterian Church with Rev. Will Gipe officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
