
Helen Hart Barber, 99, of Salisbury, N.C., was called home on Friday, February 13, 2026. She was born on June 21, 1926, in Mooresville, N.C., to the late Fannie and Howard Hart.
Mrs. Barber graduated from Mooresville High School and the University of NC/Greenville with a degree in Home Economics. After graduation, she worked as a dietician at Lowrance Hospital in Mooresville, Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury and retired from the VA Hospital in Salisbury in 1983 with 30 years of service.
She was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church in Mooresville.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Barber; her daughter, Patricia Barber Vaughan; brothers Sam, Harry, and Donald Hart; and sisters Louise Jackson, Ruby Gudger, and Margaret Gudger.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Elaine Trant (husband Chuck), sister Virginia Edmiston, grandchildren Meredith Brown (husband Chris), Robert Vaughan (wife Lauren), David Trant (wife Kit), and Allison Green (husband Drew), and great grandchildren Logan and Evelyn Brown, Henley Vaughan, and Adalyn, Carter, and Luke Green.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church with Rev. Will Gipe officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the administration and staff at Trinity Oaks.
