Mr. James Ray “Jimmy” Jones, 86, son of the late Jessie Lee and Helen McDowell Jones, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on November 20, 1939. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

He was a graduate of Unity High School, and prior to his retirement he was employed as a merchandiser and receiving clerk for Belk department store. He was a member of Logan Presbyterian Church, USA, in Scotts, where he as a Deacon, Trustee, and a member of the Usher Board. Jimmy had many hobbies, but he especially loved fishing, gardening and playing cards. He was married to Mary Frances Moten Jones, who survives.

He was preceded in death by a son, Reginald Jones; his brothers, Billy Jones, Leroy Jones and Robert “June” Stevenson; and a sister, Daisy Boddie.

In addition to his wife, Mary France Jones, Jimmy leaves to cherish the memory of his life a daughter, Glenda Faye Jones of Statesville; a brother, John Alfred (Pauline) Jones of Statesville; a sister, Ossie Davis of Statesville; five grandchildren; Shauna Redmon, whom was like a granddaughter to him; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Pete White, Ben Tatum, Bob and Connie Gardner.
