Jerry Jonothan Benfield, 52, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness on February 13, 2026. Jerry was born on May 6, 1973, in Iredell County to the late Donald Fleming and Janice Freeland Wilson.

Jerry was a caregiver at home and did an awesome job taking care of his brother Bobby, who was battling cancer.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Benfield.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Pamela Benfield Cooper; and his great niece and nephew, Zoey and Waylon, whom he loved to get down on the floor and play with, and his dear friend Billy Wyatt.
