With heavy hearts, we announce the senseless tragic passing of Joanne Beauvais on the night of February 26, 2026, at the age of 45.

Joanne was born in Nyack, N.Y., raised in Spring Valley, and lived a life of strength and deep devotion to her family. She was so proud to be of Haitian heritage with parents who immigrated from Haiti and paved the way for her. She loved her country and desired to go back home. Joanne was the proud and loving mother of three beautiful children whom she lived her life for.

She worked hard on her education and received a master’s degree in education from New York University. Joanne was Education Director of special education for Merakey in Scranton, Pa. Her love for education was deep. It spanned over the course of decades. She sacrificed and worked endlessly to get where she was. She truly loved what she and her team did for those children at Merakey.

Her sense of style was a major part of her and something she loved so much. How she maintained herself and her image was of importance. It helped to define her.

Her hobbies included cooking and cocktail making. Her specialty was Mac and Cheese and Lasagna, amongst so many other things. Cocktail making came later on in her life, but it was a hobby she was working to perfect. She loved movies and TV shows. As minor as it may seem, we bonded so much through it. It helped us cope with everyday life. She had unwavering love and passion for it.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Claudette Beauvais.

Joanne is survived by her children, Taaj, Bree and Madison; her father Daniel and stepmother, Nadine; brother, Danny (Kimberly); her niece Aubrey; and Blackman and Archie family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a memorial service celebrating Joanne’s life following at 12 noon at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. We invite all who knew and loved Joanne to join us in honoring her memory.
