Joe Caroll Lane, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully at Lake Park Nursing Center in Indian Trail, N.C., after a courageous battle with illness on February 6, 2026. Joe was born on August 2, 1946, in Kingstree, S.C., to the late Carroll Lane and wife Willie Belle Coker Lane.

Joe grew up surrounded by family and the small-town values he carried with him throughout his life. In 1966, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, later continuing his service as a dedicated reservist for several years. In the early 1970s, Joe settled in the Mooresville area, where he built a long and fulfilling career as a Field Service Technician with the Public Service Company of North Carolina, serving faithfully for nearly 30 years. His strong work ethic, quiet determination, and willingness to help others earned him respect from colleagues and friends alike.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Wilkerson Lane, and his brother, Wayne Lane.

Joe is survived by his son, Heath Carroll Lane, and wife Valrie K. of Lancaster, S.C.; his daughter, Stephanie Lane Sanchez and husband Mark of Clovis, Calif.; his four grandchildren, Tyler Lane and wife Lisa of Chester, S.C., Cody Lane of Blair, S.C., Sophia, and Judah Sanchez of Clovis, Calif. He was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Zelda and Leona Lane.

Joe’s family circle extended through his stepdaughters, Amy Lambert Boone (Matthew), the late Leanne Lambert, Amanda Lambert, and Jessica Robertson, all of Statesville, N.C. His step-grandchildren include Melia Lambert, Sidney and Caitlyn Austin, Morgan and Olin Myers, Nicholas Duke, and Donald Joe and EvieJo Glover, along with great-grandchildren Desiree and Micheal Myers and Jasper and Alice Duke, all of Statesville, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Heritage House (Hwy 150), 494 E Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 1 p.m. There will be no formal visitation. Reverend Russell Files will be officiating the service.

Joe will be remembered for his steadfast love of family, his deep sense of duty, and the quiet strength that guided his life’s journey. His legacy continues through the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.
