John Daniel McVannan, 63, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Lauren McVannan and Jasmine McVannan; his sisters, Joanne Kocur, Kathleen Webster, and Debra Dongweck; father-in-law, Les Groom; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bishop; nieces, nephews; and his best friends Eric Markey, who spent his final days with him, and Mike, who was always checking in.

John was preceded in death by his father, Donald McVannan; mother, Elizabeth McVannan; as well as his brothers-in-law, Paul Kocur and Paul Dongweck; and his wife, Marie Groom McVannan.

John enjoyed carpentry and car repair and was a jack of all trades. His life cut way too short and our hearts forever broken.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
