Jose “Te” Soares Rodrigues, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Purchase, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Autumn Care of Cornelius, N.C. He was born on August 3, 1936, in Portugal to the late Jose and Ermelinda Rodrigues

Jose proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was honored to serve and carried that pride with him throughout his life. After his time in the Army, Jose worked with his brothers and brother-in-law as one of the top minority contractors in New York City. He was a hard worker who loved building and making things with his hands. Jose enjoyed spending time on his son’s farm in Upstate New York and being with his family. He especially loved watching his grandsons grow and work at their jobs. He often shared stories about growing up in Portugal and about his years as a contractor.

Jose is survived by his loving daughter, Carol Ferrovecchio (Dominic) of Mooresville, N.C.; her children, Frank John (Ashley), Christopher, and Gabrielle; and his great-granddaughter, Victoria Alice. He is also survived by his son, Jose Soares Jr. (Eleanor Rodrigues) of Harrison, N.Y.; grandson, Jose Soares III (Devon) of Manhattan, N.Y.; his granddaughters, Brianna and Kaila Rodrigues (Anthony) of Harrison, N.Y., and Miami, Fla.; his grandchildren, Jake and Mia Rodrigues; and his great-grandson, John Robert Rodrigues of Manhattan, N.Y.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Alice Rodrigues; son, Thomas H. Rodrigues; and brothers, Carlos and Manuel Rodrigues.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. with a service with military honors following at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
