Judy Owens Benfield, 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mooresville on September 1, 1948, to the late Lonnie and Irene Godfrey Owens.

Judy enjoyed reading, and she loved her cats. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. She enjoyed all sorts of music, but her favorite were the Eagles. Judy graduated from Mooresville High School in 1966. She worked at Burlington Industries (formerly Mooresville Mills) for 28 years in the Purchasing Department. Judy was passionate about giving to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Samaritan’s Purse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Diane Coley, and mother-in-law, Lorene Brown.

Those left to cherish Judy’s memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Randy Benfield; son, James Benfield (Ellen); daughter, Brooke Eaton (Paul); sisters, Janice Owens and Barbara Muller; brother-in-law, Bill Coley; granddaughter, Emily Eaton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Benfield family would like to express their gratitude and heart felt thanks to the wonderful care and love that Judy received from the Hospice nurses.

At Judy’s request, there will be no services.
