It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julia Lynn Rooney, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who left us far too soon on March 23, 2026, at the age of 13.

She was born on October 31, 2012, in Red Bank, N.J., to Christopher and Dana Rooney. She was a student at Woodland Heights Middle School, Pine Lake Preparatory and a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, N.C.

Julia was a vibrant and passionate cheerleader whose spirit touched the lives of everyone around her. Julia was an All-Star Competitive Cheerleader, dedicating countless hours to practice and performance. She also cheered proudly for her middle school team, where her enthusiasm and talent shone brightly. Her love for cheerleading was matched only by her warm heart and infectious smile, which brought joy to her family and friends.

Julia was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Rooney.

In addition to her parents, Chris and Dana, she is survived by her brother, Connor Rooney; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Audrey Filippone; paternal grandmother, Judy Rooney; uncle and aunt, Kevin and Karen Rooney; cousin, Avery Rooney; and her beloved fur baby, Bailey.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
