Julie Smith Swayngim, 55, of Conover, N.C., passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Julie was born August 26, 1970, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., the daughter of Brenda Dianne Herrin Smith and the late Larry Smith.

Julie was of the Christian faith and was a very Godly woman. She loved to garden, cook, and go shopping. She loved and adored her family, especially the grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, those left to cherish and honor her memories include her daughters, Brooke Swayngim, Madison Swayngim, and Mikenzie Salazar, all of Alexander County; and her grandchildren, Layla Lewis, Sophia Lewis, Beau Lewis, Rosaleigh Honeycutt, Ivyann Honeycutt, Emeryll Salazar, and Addalia Salazar.
