Larry Dean Benge, 71, of Statesville, N.C., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family, after his second journey through lung cancer.

He was born on January 23, 1954, in Statesville to the late Clay and Elsie Stroud Benge. Mr. Benge graduated from Statesville High School in 1972. He retired from Perdue Farms in Statesville in 2016 after 43 years of service. Larry was a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church in Mooresville for over 40 years. He served there as Chairman of Deacons, on the building committee and as a former youth leader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Benge; and an infant sister, WandaGail Benge.

Cherishing his memory are his wife of 50 years, Glenda; children, Jason Benge and wife Christin, Emily Adkins and husband Kevin; sister, Carol Jones (Allen); 11 grandchildren, Brianna Junior (Cameron), Gavin Benge, Aleah Adkins, Alexis Benge, Aiden Adkins, Josiah Benge, Lydia Adkins, Elijah Adkins, Mckena Adkins, Layla Adkins and Levi Adkins; two great grandchildren, Analise Junior and Ezekiel Junior; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care given to Larry from Hospice of Iredell County allowing him to spend quality time at home with his family during his last days of his cancer journey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
