
Lillie Mae Katie Alexander Templeton, 95, of Statesville, N,C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Autumn Care Nursing Center.
Mama Katie, as she was affectionately called by all who knew and loved her, was born on July 27, 1930, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., and was the beloved daughter of the late Elmore Alexander and Odessa Lowery Alexander. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Katie was a dedicated seamstress and worked for many years at a local knitting company, where she was known for her skill, precision, and strong work ethic. Outside of her work, she found joy in baking and sewing, often sharing her talents with family and friends.
A faithful member of St. John Baptist Church, Lillie was deeply committed to her church community and lived her life guided by her Baptist faith. She was also active in her community, participating in the Senior Citizens Club and the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Templeton; sons, Reginald Templeton, Ronnie Templeton, Rickey Templeton, and Russell Templeton; a daughter, Regin Templeton, and a granddaughter, Rayjene Templeton.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Raymond (Tiny) Templeton and Robert (Prudy) Templeton, both of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Vivian Patterson of Newton-Conover, N.C.; fifteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, other family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel, Rutledge & Bigham Funeral Home on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 1 p.m.. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, and Reverend William Scott will officiate. Family visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mama Katie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the love she shared through her many gifts.
