Linda Kay Arnett McDaniel, 77, of Statesville, N.C., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
She was born on April 2, 1948 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Pettybone and Florence Deloach Arnett. Mrs. McDaniel was a graduate of Happy Vally High School in Elizabethton, Tenn. Because of her love for children, Linda spent 50-plus years caring for children in her home.
A faithful servant of the Lord, she spent many years serving as a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church in Huntersville, N.C. In her later years a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Mooresville, N.C. She was a faithful wife to her husband, Clarence McDaniel Jr., for 40 years prior to his death in 2007.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 10 brothers and most recently her sister Mary Bell Davis, her nephew Tommy Paul Davis, and her sister-in-law Margaret Arnett of Kingsport, Tenn.
She is survived by her sister, Bertha Asher (Mike) of Elizabethton, Tenn.; brother Ned Arnett of Kingsport, Tenn.; brother-in-law Floyd Davis of Cornelius; sister-in-law Shirley Rumley of Elizabethton; her children, David McDaniel (Kathy) of Statesville, N.C., Donna Blocksom of Landis, N.C., and Melinda Wilson (Derek) of Mooresville, N.C.; grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel (Kristen) of Salisbury, N.C., Matthew McDaniel (Caroline) of Mt. Ulla, N.C., Casey Blocksom (Angelica) of Mooresville, N.C., Monique Landro (Tyler) of Statesville, N.C., Myles Williams of Mooresville, N.C., Wally Mitchum (Lisa) of Granite Falls, N.C., and Nic Wilson of Mooresville, N.C.; great grandchildren, Carson, Caroline, Emmitt, Cleo, Camile, Cora, Kennedy, Mariya, Tyler and Dylan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Don Newell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park, 273 Glenwood Drive, Mooresville.
