
Mark Scott Harrison, 80, died peacefully at home on January 20, 2026. A funeral mass will be held at his home parish of St. Therese Church in Mooresville on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11 a.m.
Mark is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janette; his children and their spouses, Scott and Laurie Harrison, Kate and Paul O’Connell, David and Laura Harrison, Amy Harrison, Hayley and Vinit Agrawal, and Matthew Harrison; his eight grandchildren, Eden, Xander, Jordi, Joshua, Samé, Jack, Honorah, and Ashwin; his sisters and brother-in-law: Joan Tracy, Merry Harrison and Mark Harding; his nephew, Chase; his cousin and godson Chris Scales; and many extended relatives and loved ones.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Henry Gerard Harrison and Marie Adele Harrison (nee Usher), and goes to join them to Rest in the Peace of the Lord.
Mark attended St. Nicholas Grammar School in Passaic, N.J., where he was active in Scouting and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He earned a full academic scholarship to Regis High School in New York City, where he enjoyed playing handball and track. Mark graduated from Georgetown University in 1967, with a degree in economics and an ROTC commission, and his U.S. Army service included two years of active duty in Germany, after which he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.
Mark’s business career began with 25 years at Chase Manhattan Bank and included commercial credit and marketing assignments in New York and Europe, specializing in commodity finance. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of the bank in 1988. Mark joined Swiss Bank Corporation as Executive Director of Commodity Trade Finance in 1992. In 1995, he left Swiss Bank to join Leach and Garner Company as its Chief Financial Officer.
Mark retired in 2001, and he and Jan moved from Summit, N.J., to Sherrills Ford, N.C., in 2005. Mark was an active member of the Catawban Men’s Club, engaging in book club and playing pool. Mark enjoyed cruising with Jan and friends, and traveling, especially to visit family in the U.S., England, Ireland, and South Africa; and spending many good times with best friends, Joyce and Von Beatty. An avid sports enthusiast and life-long Dodgers fan, he spent many late nights watching West Coast games and joined with his family’s love of Crystal Palace FC. Mark also enjoyed reading, movies, card games, and spending time with his loved ones on Lake Norman.
