Mary Ellen Warren Herman, 81, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born December 7, 1944, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Royd Warren and Gaynell Isenhour Warren.

Mary Ellen was a 1963 Taylorsville High School graduate. She was an Administrative Assistant for Herman Trucking and St. Luke Lutheran for most of her working career. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She loved her Hope Circle and was also a charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church.

Mary Ellen was known for her gentle smile; she loved to laugh and was a fun person to be around. She was also a good cook and loved her flowers and adventures. She had a very tight knit family whom she loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Dawn Herman; and her sisters, Linda Warren Simon, Nora Jane Teague, Stephanie Elaine Schultz.

Those left to cherish and honor Mary Ellen’s memories include her husband of 60 years, Clyde Herman of the home; her daughters, Amber Darice Herman, and Anita Diane Herman (Randy Holbrook); her son, Andrew David Herman (Natasha); her granddaughters, Nichole Barnes (Brandon), and Hannah Herman (Jason); six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Kenneth Warren, Carson Elder (Sookyung), and Paul Elder (Mary); her brothers-in-law, John Simon, and Virgil Schultz; loving caregivers, Sylvia Crouch, Penny Harris, Phyllis Mays, Alicia Miller, Barbara Campbell, Teresa Fox, Abby Pyatte, and Hope Circle Sisters in Christ; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Rev. James Dahl will officiate.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Iredell County for the love and care that they had shown to Mary Ellen.
