Mauro Gonzalez Castro, 76, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his home.

Mauro was born March 10, 1949, in Guerrero, Mexico, and was the son of the late Ignacio Gonzalez and Filogonia Castro. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and the owner of Cozumel Mexican Restaurant.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alicia Gonzalez; sons, Roberto Joel Gonzalez, Edwardo Gonzalez, Ulisses Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, Mauro Gonzalez, Victor Hugo Gonzalez, Habraham Gonzalez, Emmanuel Gonzalez and Francisco Gonzalez; and daughter, Maria Luisa Gonzalez.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Troutman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, conducted by Father Bernard Oleru. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
