
Mitchell Elwin Hayer, 50, of Statesville, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
He was born on October 22, 1975, in Salisbury, N.C., to the late James and Linda Hayer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Hayer and Gary Robinson.
Mitchell worked in construction and was a foreman with Blythe Development, a job he took great pride in. He was a hardworking man who loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Above all else, Mitchell loved Jesus and his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Kayla Hayer (Michael) and Whitney Moffitt (Jordan); his brother, Todd Robinson (Angela); his sister, Tammy Flouton (Eric); six grandchildren, Wyatt Harmon, Bentley Singleton, Ava Moffitt, Landon Singleton, Walker Moffitt, and Skylar Black; along with numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Eric Paul Flouton.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Amity Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cleveland, N.C.
