Norma Sue Reid, 87, of Lewisville, N.C., passed away at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Sue was born November 7, 1938, in Iredell County, N.C.. She was the daughter of the late Hubert Myers Reid and Zelda Shaver Reid. Sue grew up in Statesville, N.C. She graduated from Statesville Senior High School and attended Mitchell Community College for two years. She completed her BA degree at Women’s College (UNC) Greensboro. Sue received her master’s degree at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Sue began her career as a clinical supervisor at Virginia Treatment Center for Children in Richmond, Va. She was an assistant professor of psychiatry at The Medical College of Virginia at VCU.

Upon retirement, Sue returned to live in Lewisville, where she remained until her death.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack Reid and Jerry Reid.

Sue was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

The family wishes to thank Amanda Davis, RN, of Trellis in Winston-Salem, and Melissa, Kelly, Karen and the nurses and staff of Gordon Hospice House for their compassionate care of Sue during her final days.

It was at Sue’s request that there be no funeral services held.
