
Philip Charles Coleman of the Shepherds Community in Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He inspired many people with his rock solid faith and strength of character and courage.
Phil was born June 13, 1947, to the late George and Faye Coleman. Phil leaves a legacy of faith to his wife of 55 years, Frankie Sue; sons Andy Coleman and wife Allison of Huntersville and Nathan Coleman of Mooresville; his beloved grandchildren, Anna and Will; sister Marcia Coleman Fidis (Nicholas); sister-in-law, Jill Giles (Bobby); brother-in-law, Blaine Moore (Donna); sister-in-law, Kim Skeen (Mackie); and four nieces and four nephews.
Phil graduated from East Carolina University with a business degree. He served in the Army Security Agency during Vietnam where he monitored enemy radio traffic to gather intelligence. He also spent time in Germany during the war.
He retired as associate vice president from Bank of America’s IT services.
Phil had a passion for singing in the Vanderburg choir. He enjoyed many motorcycle trips in North Carolina and throughout the United States, and fishing outings with friends and family. He will be deeply missed by his family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, from 3 to 4 p.m. with a service with military honors following at 4 p.m. at Vanderburg Methodist Church with Pastor Melanie Nichols and Rev. Buddy Compton officiating. A private burial will be in the church cemetery.
