Rachael Elizabeth Barnette Boone, lovingly known as “Liz,” passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C. She was 77.

Liz was born and raised in Mooresville, where she built a life centered on compassion, family, and faith. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse at Carolinas Medical Center, where she worked with newborns. Nursing was more than a profession to Liz — it was a calling that reflected her deeply kind and compassionate heart.

Liz found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved playing the flute, enjoyed fishing, and had a special appreciation for flowers and the beauty they brought into the world. She delighted in time spent in Hilton Head, S.C., a place she cherished and proudly called home for several years. She also had a well-known love for seafood, which brought her much happiness throughout her life.

Above all else, Liz treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who worked tirelessly to make sure everyone around her felt loved. Her warmth, gentle spirit, and unwavering care touched countless lives.

Liz’s faith was the foundation of her life. Church and her love for Jesus were deeply important to her, guiding her actions and shaping the grace and compassion she showed to others.

She is survived by her loving spouse, Daniel Keith Boone; her children, Alex Barnette, Mark Barnette (Jillian), and Robert Barnette (Jackie); her grandchildren, Summer Barnette, Logan Barnette, Justine Barnette, Anderson Barnette, Randa Barnette, Cameron Barnette, Abigail Rose, Luther Cruikshanks, and Carerra Cruikshanks, Jaymarie Mojica Bueno, IIianys Mojica Bueno, and Keyshanty Mojica Bueno; as well as four great-grandchildren.

Liz will be remembered for her kindness, her servant’s heart, and the love she freely gave. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. David F. Rockness officiating. Burial will follow the service at Willow Valley Cemetery.
