
Mrs. Ruthie Lucille Brown Bennett, 67, was born in Iredell County on December 5, 1958, to the late Samuel June Brown Jr. and Alberta Dunlap Brown. She departed this life on February 1, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
Ruthie graduated from Alexander Central High School. She was affectionately known as “Cille” by her friends and family and, at one time, was employed at Premier Wood, where she dedicated ten years of service. She later worked in housekeeping at Iredell Memorial Hospital for ten years prior to her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Macy Dunlap and Ruth Dunlap; and her sister, Crystal Brown.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her two sons, Christopher Mandell Brown of Statesville and Brian Marcell Brown of Hiddenite, N.C.; a daughter, Kenyana Shanell Brown (Vernon White); brothers, Butch Brown (Debbie) of Washington, Lynn Brown, and Bobby Brown (Connie) of Columbia, Ga.; sisters, Mary (Marcus) Williams of Philadelphia, Vanessa Brown of Concord, Debbie (Rico) Montgomery, and Patricia Brown White, all of Statesville; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Natalie D. Mott; special nieces, Talijah Brown and Jennifer Brown; special friend, Phil Taylor; sister-in-law, Betty (John) Bennett; brother-in-law, Charles White; mother-in-law, Florence Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ruthie will be remembered by her family and friends for her love and dedication to those she held dear.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, and burial will follow at St. Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery.
