Shannon Annette Suits, 51, of Statesville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Shannon was a strong, independent woman whose life was rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family. Known for her fiery personality and sassy sense of humor, she brought energy, laughter, and boldness into every room she entered. Her strength carried not only herself, but so many others through life.

She dedicated over 20 years of her life to caring for others through Hospice of Iredell County at the Gordon Hospice House. Serving families during their most difficult moments was not just her career; it was her calling. She gave comfort, dignity, and compassion to countless people, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Shannon was a loving mother to her son, Douglas Haskew, and his wife Beth, and a proud and devoted “Gigi” to her grandson, Remington. She also leaves behind her bonus son, Jacob Haskew, and his wife Ashley, and her beloved grandchildren, Jayden, Jonah, and Whitley.

She is survived by her sister, Regina McDonald, and her husband Michael; her brother, Wayne, Childress and his wife Nancy; her nephew, Michael McDonald Jr., and his wife Cayla; her nieces, Kayla Childress and Krista Lloyd and her husband, Trevor; her great nieces and nephews, Tae, Kingston, Love, Millie June, Stetson, and a baby boy on the way; her aunts, Cindy Deadmon, Pam Fox and her husband Will, and Betty Upright and her husband Tony; as well as numerous cousins and extended family who will miss her dearly.

Shannon was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Mary Suits.

She will be remembered for her fiery personality, her sass, her strength, her honesty, her deep compassion, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her faith in Jesus was a guiding light in her life, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in His presence.

Thank you, Shannon, for being our rock. Your love, guidance, sass, and strength will live on in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at Cornerstone Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
