Shirley Jean Strange Black, 81, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Shirley was born April 18, 1944, in Tuscumbia, Ala., to the late Bryce Strange and Mildred Willis Zimmerman.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, William “Billy” Black, and a grandson, Tyler Anderson.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William “Bill” Earl Black; her daughter, Terri Black Hastings; grandsons, Chad Ancona (Renee) and Daniel Ancona (Tiffany); and six great-grandchildren.

There are no services scheduled at this time.
