Shirley Mae Baumer Davenport, 90, of Statesville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Shirley was born April 25, 1935, in Zilwaukee, Mich., and was the daughter of the late William Baumer and Lillian Sabraw Baumer. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Coye Ronald Davenport, in 2012, and her sons, Ernest William Davenport and Paul David Davenport.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Eugene Joseph Davenport, Matthew Michael Davenport (Candace), Thomas John Davenport (Jenny), Edward Alan Davenport (Samantha) and Joseph Jacob Davenport (Jennifer); and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Meisel.

Shirley studied nursing and worked as a nurse prior to her marriage to Coye on September 18, 1954. The couple raised eight children who blessed them with fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Shirley was the perfect homemaker. She also had a passion for all babies, elderly, sewing and serving the church as an organist for more than 25 years at the Catholic Church. At the age of 70, Shirley and Coye successfully graduated as CNAs to further serve others in their golden years. Shirley was always a dauntless keeper of memorable dates for everyone she knew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Faith Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Shirley may be made to St. Philip Capital Improvements, 525 Camden Drive, Statesville NC 28677, or Faith Church, 403 Barry Oak Road, Statesville NC 28625, or an organization of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements for Shirley Davenport are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
