Stephen Dewayne Imes, 64, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on October 22, 1961, to his late parents, James Edward Murdock,Jr. and Beulah Mae Imes. He entered into eternal life on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his residence. His wife, Dorothy Shuford Imes; two sisters, Sybil Y. Imes and Debra Keaton; and one niece, Alexis Murdock, all preceded him in death.

He was employed as a supervisor with Wm T Burnett Fiber LLC in Statesville, N.C. Stephen attended the Iredell County School System. He will truly be missed.

Stephen leaves to cherish the memory of his life a daughter, Olivia Rucker; five step-kids, Tylisha House, Lamont Shuford, Michael Shuford, Jessica Rucker, and Jamie Roseboro; two brothers, James E. Murdock III and Larry Stovall; sisters, Shon Murdock and Shontay Simpson, both of Statesville, and Nina (George) Scott of Charlotte; two uncles, Nathaniel Murdock (Lillie) and Freddie Whiteside (Faith); one aunt, Cynthia Holmes; one brother-in-law, Beauty Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Rosa Glover and Mary Alston; special friends, Kenneth Morrison, Tony Moten, Eric Mull, James C. Harrison, and Steven Dulin; a host of nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Shaye Morrison and Nikki Imes; other relatives, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Bishop Wilford Walls will officiate, and Pastor James Hunter will deliver the eulogy.
