
Steven Russell Ramseur, 75, of Statesville, N.C., died on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Meadowbrook Health and Rehabilitation of Salisbury after a long illness.
Steven was born on April 15, 1950, in Statesville to Natalie R. Marsh, daughter of Louise Colvard Renwick, and the late Billie Russell Ramseur. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Zarrie James. He was a 1968 graduate of Morningside High School in Statesville. After high school, he entered the United States Army. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, where he was an altar boy. After his military service, he worked for the United States Postal Service and RubberMaid.
In addition to his mother, Steven is survived by two brothers, Eric C. Ramseur and Edward R. James III (Tracy); three sisters, Angela R. Miller, Sandra R. Cowan, and Lisa C. James; two nieces, Donja Padgett (Jay) and Natalie Gray (Antonio); great-nieces, Nikya Gibbs, Treasure Allison, and Serenity Gray; nephews, Charles Gibbs (Tamara), Chauncey Ramseur, Jr., and Edward James, Jr.; his great-nephews, Preston Gibbs, Charles Gibbs Jr., Quardaris Gibbs and Armauni Gray, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, beginning at 2 p.m. Military Honors will be conducted immediately following the funeral. A private interment will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury at a later date.
