Susan Christine Newton Sexton, 67, of Woodleaf, N.C., passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026. She was born on October 16, 1958, in Rowan County, N.C., to the late Arnold Joe Newton Sr. and Jewel Geralene Campbell Newton.

Christine was a graduate of West Rowan High School and went on to attend Rowan Technical College. She worked as an accountant at Martin Marietta and was a member of Needmore Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and she loved hummingbirds and dogs.

She was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Melba Newton; and her granddaughter, Chasidy Nicole Hahn.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Jewel Geralene Newton; her husband of 30 years, Eugene Sexton; her sons, Jason Scott Kinley and Adam Eugene Sexton (Leigh Shoffner); her daughter, Candi Elizabeth Sexton-Lauer (Harry); her brothers, Arnold Joe Newton Jr. and Brian Welby Newton; her grandsons, Hunter Lauer and Adam Lane Sexton; and her great granddaughter, Madalynd Winter Leona Lynch.

A funeral service will be held at on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Needmore Baptist Church in Woodleaf with Rev. Ted Tuggle officiating. The family will receive friends after the funeral service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
